Poetry Out Loud: Friday, February 17th, 6 p.m., Central School Theatre
A nation-wide competition that challenges high school students to recite poetry in a competitive setting.
Spring Art Walk / Art Battle: Friday, April 13th, 5 p.m. - 9 p.m., downtown Lake Charles
Downtown venues are turned into art galleries for one evening as residents are invited to explore downtown businesses while experiencing local art. A competitive art battle is held in conjunction.
Live @ the Lakefront: Friday, March 16th, 23rd, 30th, 6 p.m. - 10 p.m., Lakefront Promenade
Downtown's newest music festival that celebrates the lakefront with live music by local and touring bands, artist booths, and food vendors. Beer, wine, and coke sales benefit the Arts Council.

Art Camp: June 2012, Lake Charles Boston Academy of Learning
Co-sponsored with the Calcasieu Parish School Board, the annual summer art camp is a month-long arts education program for area children.
Arts & Crabs Fest: Saturday, August 18th, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., Lake Charles Civic Center
A seafood festival that celebrates the Cajun cultural heritage and the Cameron Parish seafood industry as well as their impacts on our cultural economy. The day features an extensive crab and beer tasting, live music, local art, and the culminating Gold Key Quest raffle drawing.

Gallery Promenade: Friday, September 28th, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
A comprehensive art walk featuring the current exhibits of over a dozen galleries across the Lake Area.
Mayor's Arts Awards: Friday, October 12th, 6 p.m., Central School Theater
Mayor Randy Roach honors those working in the arts with awards, including Artist of the Year, Business Patron of the Year, and Citizen of the Arts, among others.

ArtsFest: Saturday, October 27th, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
An annual free arts festival for area children that fosters an interest in learning through engaging art projects.
Grant Programs
The Arts Council offers four grant programs annually. All grant programs are competitive, and funding decisions are made locally by a grant review panel of community members. Please contact Jackie Dowden at cdc@artsandhumanitiesswla.org for details. All grant applications and guidelines can be found on the Arts Council website.
Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Grant, deadline January 7th:
Funded by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury for arts and cultural programs in Calcasieu Parish.
Lake Charles Partnership Grant, deadline February 1st:
Funded by the City of Lake Charles for arts and cultural initiatives and operational support for organizations domiciled in the Lake Charles city limits.
Tourism Marketing Initiative Grant, deadline May 4th:
Funded by the Lake Charles Convention & Visitors Bureau for the use of marketing tools for arts and cultural organizations in Calcasieu Parish.
Decentralized Arts Funding Grant, deadline June 4th:
Funded by the Louisiana Division of the Arts for project assistance and operational support for organizations in the five parish region.
